Upon arrival, we were amazed at the lovely eclectic decor from the entrance to the lovely art on display by local artists. Everything was tastefully done and quite a treat for our eyes. The rooms were intimate and very conformable. Breakfast was delicious , especially the beef rolls ! The staff were very attentive and made sure that all our needs were met. The hotel manager, Julien Chao, was very friendly and professional and made sure that my first experience and stay in the hotel was a memorable one . Thank you everyone at Eclat for making my stay such a memorable one 💗

Wonderfully intimate boutique hotel

I love the size of this small property as it’s cozy intimate and the rooms are extremely comfortable. Even though my room faced the main road, I was not disturbed by the constant sounds coming from it. Location-wise, it is not very near to any subway stations but because I understand the local language and Google maps work amazingly in this city, you can get around with buses easily through the bus stops just in front of this hotel. The buses will get you to many places, including Taipei 101 or few stops away to grab the subway. My room was entry level, and it does not come with a bathtub, but rather the shower stall had a lot of space with very good water pressure. The trees were in individual small packaging from a very luxurious British perfumery house, and the hairdryer was Dyson branded. There was also a bidet. The bedding was very comfortable with a plus mattress and comfortable pillows. The TV was a bit tricky with different remote controls but after you figure it out it’s quite easy, however, I was never able to connect anything to the Boss speakers. The working desk was actually very spacious for you to get some work done, but the chair was a Philip Starck plastic one which doesn’t necessarily make it comfortable for prolonged working. The hotel also provides complementary minibar items, excluding alcohol, and TWG tea and Nespresso were also provided - with many bottles water. Housekeeping did an amazing job every day, and they keep stuff well stocked up. I always find Taipei to be quite badly laid out as it’s very scattered. There are some good food places near this hotel including the famous chicken soup place just next block and others in the alleyway behind the hotel, but this is not a pedestrian-friendly city and the drivers here are rather arrogant in giving way to pedestrians, so just be alert or use Uber to get around. I really like this hotel a lot and would definitely consider coming back to stay at this property for future trips.

The worst choice in Hyatt hotel selections

This SLH hotel was downgraded to a Hyatt Category 2 last year for good reason. Despite its shiny and sparkling interior decor, upon closer inspection, it appears rather low-end and impractical. It has nothing to do with the luxury associated with the brand's name. Good location might be its only strength. The breakfast buffet was subpar, even worse than many typical American roadside diners, with juices that tasted like powdered mixes. I discovered from fellow travelers that the hotel has a hidden menu featuring items like scrambled eggs, steamed buns, and soy milk. They presented this secret menu discreetly upon request, on a small card that was swiftly taken away after ordering, as if they were afraid of others seeing it. However, the quality of the items listed on the menu was also lacking, so I would recommend dining elsewhere for breakfast. During my stay, I also encountered the extremely rare and unusual situation of long hair being tangled up in the shower gel, with a ring of grime beneath it. I have no idea how they managed to achieve this. Additionally, the buttons on the in-room air conditioning unit were malfunctioning, requiring a lot of force to press.

Luxury price for poor experience

This is legitimately one of the worst luxury hotels you can stay at in Taipei. I literally don’t need much from a place, just a comfortable bed to sleep in and recover from a hangover after a night out. Luxury hotels are overkill but I like to be pampered…but still, I’m the lowest-maintenance customer these places probably get. How hard can it be? For one, the thermostat in my room 906 could never get to the temperature I set despite the CONSTANT clicking of the a/c and heater system. Literally every ten seconds it clicks on and off…painfully annoying. This is by far the worst…how can they serve a room like this to guests. The shower stall is of a door-less design but not in a way that prevents water from spilling out when using the rain shower. Slightly annoying. And no amenities such as toothbrush set, etc. Not that I needed it but seems like a miss for a luxury hotel. I wasn’t able to switch rooms because it took a while to check in and I had to be somewhere momentarily after on the night I checked in. For the price I paid for the stay, absolutely not worth it. Worst thing is they keep getting bad reviews recently and do nothing about it while charging premium prices. I should be refunded for a night out of my two nights here. AVOID until things improve…there are plenty of other luxury hotels in Taipei that are actually amazing and worth the price. Hotel Eclat is not it.

Tired hotel to be avoided

Eclat has two things going well for it, the first is location and the second is the quirky art; otherwise the place falls completely flat. First off, the rooms are not as clean as they could be. It is clear that housekeeping does not do any deep cleaning as there is years worth of dust piled in the corners. Some features are quite clearly dated as well with corners peeling and the entire place in need of an upgrade. Secondly the sleep quality was quite poor. The walls are thin so you hear others even when they are at a respectful volume. The A/C in my room had some sort of malfunction where it made an incredibly loud thundering noise all night on my final night, resulting in a terrible nights sleep. I finally called guest services at 4am only to have no one answer after repeated calls. I eventually went to the lobby only to find that no one was there, after loudly calling out for 5 minutes someone emerged and fixed what was clearly a known issue with the A/C. This needs to be repaired rather than it impacting customer sleep when it is a know issue. The breakfast is also just not very good at all. It is a mix of Chinese and western with neither done well, coffee is not readily available and you might as well give the entire thing a miss. The Da’an area is great, with a lot of quality sights and restaurants nearby but there are better hotel options than this. I’ll be avoiding it in the future.
